HollywoodLife's Kristen's Sundance Film Festival Diary

HollywoodLife With two movies premiering at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival — The Runaways and Welcome to the Rileys — Kristen Stewart, 19, was the ‘bella’ of the ball and spent opening weekend in Park City, Utah going Energizer Bunny style by attending junkets, gift suites, premieres and parties — your pals at HollywoodLife.com were on hand to witness it all!

Friday, Jan. 22

Kristen arrives in Park City via private plane. We speculate whether or not her BF and fellow Twilight star Robert Pattinson will be making an appearance. We hope so. He’s pretty.

Saturday, Jan. 23

12:15 p.m. Kristen, dressed in her standby olive pea coat, ripped jeans, high tops and a hoodie, swings by the Lia Sophia gift lounge at the Lot on Main Street with Runaways and Twilight co-star, 16-year-old Dakota Fanning. Sources say the girls arrive with their ‘handlers’ and interact with virtually no one as they quickly sign a Muscle Milk fridge for charity, take portraits at the Wire Image booth and grab Diesel ‘Be Stupid’ gift bags. (Kristen’s supposedly a big fan.)

2:15 p.m. Kristen waltzes from her SUV to the red carpet at the Racquet Club Theater for the premiere of Welcome to the Rileys, an indie flick in which she plays a 16-year-old girl who will do anything to make a buck or two — even if it means selling her body. Whoa, Kristen – is that you?

9:30 p.m. Dakota and K quietly slip into the Spin pre-party at the Quintessentially Luxury Lounge at Harry O’s, a popular club on Main St, and rock backstage while Joan kills it onstage to hits like ‘Cherry Bomb’ and ‘I Love Rock-n-Roll.’

10:20 p.m. Kristen and Dakota make a ’surprise’ (we predicted it) appearance with rocker Joan Jett and Cherie Currie before Joan lights into her song ‘Playing with Fire.’ Joan can be seen telling K to take off her signature hoodie. Meanwhile, Dakota smiles and waves to the crowd.
Joan tells the crowd, “I wanna welcome Cherie Currie, who started the band with me, and the two lovely girls who will play us in The Runaways.”
The next day we run into Runaways actress Riley Keough, who tells us exclusively that Dakota and Kristen went back to their hotel after the concert because they were wiped out and wanted to rest up for a packed day of press on Sunday.

Sunday, Jan. 24

10:40 a.m. Kristen stops by the Greenhouse Actors Lodge, a secluded mansion two blocks away from Main St., for the Belvedere Gersh Agency Brunch. Dressed in her uniform — a hoodie and skinny jeans — the actress eats an egg omelet made with tomatoes, at a table with two guy friends. (No egg whites for our girl! We love how normal and non-LA she is!)

“It’s just crazy with the press,” the worn-out actress tells a fellow brunch-goer when asked about her Sundance experience.
11:25 a.m. Before taking off for The Runaways press junket, Kristen does an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair in front of the house.

12:00 p.m. Kristen magically (no one sees her) heads to the sixth floor of the Sky Lounge to join Dakota to do press for The Runaways.
“Kristen seemed tired to me,” our source tells us of Kristen’s appearance at the junket. “But after we started talking about The Runaways she got really into it and become super excited. It’s obvious she loves what she does.”
Now that K-Stew and Dakota have worked together on three films, the girls have started to pick up similar mannerisms. “Both Kristen and Dakota had nervous tics,” our insider dishes. “When the actresses weren’t sure how to answer a question, they’d start to tap one foot. They would get faster and faster.”

5:35 p.m. Five minutes after Dakota walks in, Kristen pulls up to The Runaways premiere at the Eccles Theater; fans go wild. The best way we can describe the scene is ‘organized chaos.’ Cameras flash, people are yelling and every one is madly trying to talk to the megastar. Never one to get to riled up, K-Stew whips through the red carpet, keeping it to two questions per reporter.

8:39 p.m. Kristen and crew — who include The Runaways director Floria Sigismondi, Dakota and Joan Jett — arrive at Bing.com’s fete at GoldBar to celebrate their film and go straight to their VIP area table. The girls are both underage, and don’t drink (plus they’re being watched over carefully by their own individual bodyguards). The group stays secluded in the corner and doesn’t mingle with anyone except a few industry professionals. Even Jared Leto isn’t cool enough to join in the fun — he tries to crash their exclusive celebration and gets Denied (with a capital D).

12:00 a.m. After a full day of events, the entire group peaces out — but that doesn’t stop the party from going on. Party-goers barely notice the stars are gone!

12:01 a.m. We miss R-Patz. We bet K-Stew does too.
