Five questions for Vogue's Eve MacSweeney about February cover girl Kristen Stewart.
Vogue.com: Where did you interview Kristen?
Eve MacSweeney: Since she had just started a year’s worth of filming of the two-part finale of the Twilight Saga in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I went there to see her. It’s a fairly small town, so at first I thought it would be fun for her to show me around and visit the local places she likes. Wrong! I totally underestimated how hard it is for her to go anywhere without being mobbed. We met in the house of a friend of hers on a gated property, and even then, if she caught sight of a teenage girl in the distance, she would virtually drop to the floor so as not to be seen.
Vogue.com: Did anything surprise you about Kristen?
Eve MacSweeney: Since, as she herself put it, “I just can’t go to the mall,” she’s developed some unexpected hobbies. She likes golf (lots of space, not a lot of human contact), and she really is an excellent self-taught cook. She told me she reads food magazines and watches a lot of cooking shows. When we met, she made an amazing tortilla soup with all kinds of accoutrements, (see recipe here) along with pulled pork. Delicious!
Vogue.com: What did you learn about her approach to fashion?
Eve MacSweeney: She had fun with the Proenza Schouler boys in our photo shoot, and she definitely keeps a young spirit in the way she dresses, like wearing short, not long. When she’s dressing for an event she likes to keep things spontaneous—she has her stylist pull three or four looks and puts on whatever she feels best in at that moment.
Vogue.com: How does she feel about playing Bella Swan?
Eve MacSweeney: Kristen takes her responsibilities to Twilight fans incredibly seriously, because she knows how important it is to them that the Bella they see on-screen is true to the character in the books, which she reads and rereads on set. She was joking about the honeymoon scene in Brazil, which she had just come back from filming. As she tries to seduce Edward (Robert Pattinson) in a sexy negligee, the crew was urging her to “shake it up a bit.” But she said, “I was like ‘Aaaah!’ I couldn’t do it. It would have gone against everything I’ve ever been used to playing with her.”
Vogue.com: What did she tell you about her personal life?
Eve MacSweeney: She won’t talk about Rob Pattinson, which is smart of her because if she started, it would never end. And she described how she keeps her sanity by “building a perimeter of people” around her that she can have fun with and not have to feel so aware of the strange circumstances her fame imposes on her. She has a very solid, close family and is really very down-to-earth, as well as being passionate about acting and intelligent about thinking up ways she can use her success to do good. Her plan is to find a way to help teenage runaways get back on their feet, a subject close to her heart after her role in Welcome to the Rileys.

I love how she comments on the seduction of Edward as ahh! That is a fav part in bd & I'm sure she nailed it... Get it...nailed it.
Anyway, gosh that's sad she can't go anywhere without being mobbed, I am hoping older twifans more respectful & then the teens will grow up soon & learn to give her personal space. Do ppl think she wants to work all the time, technically when fans approach her outside press events it's rude... I think. Who wants to talk work outside of work? Really. My opinion.

I like the part about BD filming in Brazil when she said she couldn't "shake it up a bit" to seduce edward , that must be kind of embarrassing infront of all the crew :/

I am such a proud mama. VogueStew is so full of win. Kristen is such a rare individual. She is not your typical actress. She is real. She is true. I love her to death.
I check the newsstands/bookstores every day for VogueStew and nothing yet. Not so patiently waiting.

How did they do the seduction scene without cracking up laughing? What a strange situation to be in, seducing your real life boyfriend as fictional characters in front of your coworkers. Awkward!
But I have all the confidence in the world that it will be sexy. I mean even Rob said so.
I suppose they will live their lives in gated communities for awhile, won't they.

The interviewer seems to be objective, at the same times, you can almost tell she likes Kristen too...

I can't even remember what the book said now except she did wear a negligee but it does not sound like she is going to play it up more risque or anything since she said that is not how she has played Bella all along. I have to go back and see what the book said now, lol. I read it a long time ago. I wonder what the "crew" was trying to make her do, LOL. I mean I can't imagine "Bella" doing a stripper type scene or anything, ROFL, after she has always played Bella kind of shy and such. Probably would have shocked the heck out of Edward in a good way possibly but does not sound like "Bella" plans to do it that way, LOL.
Shez such a mature girl compared to her age as Rob correctly mentioned...I liked the way she described shaking up a bit in sexy lingerie, I am so so looking forward for the movie now..

She has her feet firmly planted on the ground mainly because of her tight family ties and friends who makes her feel normal.
As for the honeymoon scene I bet she's so self conscious of some slips if ever she and Rob seriously gets down to business.

Major props to Kristen because that is probably going to be one of the most embarrassing scenes ever! i bet she is going to be mauling someone's shoulder (Rob or Taylor, maybe?) when she has to watch that scene! that'll be a ROFL-worthy moment! I know i'd turn bright red and squeeze someone's arm really hard!

I feel bad for Kristen on being scared to be seen. Her life is threatened daily by haters and stalkers who don't care. There is no respect anymore and my heart goes out to her.
She is who she is and she has to deal with things her way.
Right or wrong the media will either boost you up or bring you down and how we see things is how we judge.
Now the honeymoon scene for Bella to step it up a notch-hmmmm : ) has she done it anyway?? We have to wait for November darn it all-LOL!!
i hope when all this twilight saga will end she could find a little bit of peace. It's really unfair how she and rob have to live. I really wish fans will start to respect them as person first.

I can't see it like a awkward scene to film for them, they seems to have developed a "way" to WORK with each other and still keeping the chemistry that is THEIRS. and not of the characters.

So sad about how she has to hide. I think I would go crazy if I had to stay in and not be able to venture out. I hope even though she may be still famous years from now, that this will die down and she will be able to get out and about without being mauled.
Oh I so can't wait to see the seduction scene although I'm blushing for her. I can't imagine shaking it up in front of filming crew and my boyfriend. I can't even do a strip tease for my husband. So yeah, Id be embarrassed.

I think it's funny the interviewer refers to BR as a small town...for people in the area, I'm sure that it is the city.
That scene was one of my favorites in the book...I'm really glad that they kept it in!

@anon 10:01, you're right. BR is the second largest city in LA with a population of over 400,000. It's also the capitol.
I feel bad for K that she feels she has to duck when she sees a teen girl. Hopefully many will read this article and spread the news and the ones who chase her down will finally realize how crazy that is and stop it. Just because someone's a movie star doesn't mean it's ok to accost them. There are a lot of real crazies out in the world and Kristen can't be too careful. I'd be freaked out, too, if I couldn't go anywhere without being mobbed by overzealous strangers. It'd be a nightmare. It's amazing to me how well she and Rob cope with this. I could not and I'm absolutely certain I'd never approach them in public under any circumstance other than at an event where they are prepared and expecting to meet and greet fans.
I'm w/ya lala/c, thinking the same thing right now...she deserves a MEDAL allright...for everything she has to put up with!! & as a side note; w/this crew & the seduction Edward scene thing...I just feel for her, cuz, the pressure must have been on big time!
