Joe Anderson, Alistair in BD 2, Mentions Rob and Kristen in Latest Interview

SiouxCityJournal A natural musician -- he starred in the Beatles-based "Across the Universe" -- Anderson worked on three projects in one year -- "The River," "The Grey" and "Breaking Dawn."

And then? Then there's "Breaking Dawn," the last two parts of the "Twilight" saga. In the vampire drama, Anderson plays Alistair, a particularly complex vampire who intercedes for the Cullens. The actor read the books, saw the early films and "tried to absorb as much as I could" but knew he'd never be as savvy about the character as some of the popular books' fans.  No sweat. "It's nice to play against the grain of the film," Anderson says. "He can do what he wants because he is who he is."

The 29-year-old British-born actor, however, didn't realize the devotion of "Twilight's" fan base. "I hadn't even arrived at the motel and already there was fan mail. They figured out where I was going to be -- and I didn't even know. But every one of those letters was so genuine and so sweet."

The creepy stuff? That was saved for other actors. "A woman was standing outside the Sutton Place in Vancouver with a pair of scissors. She had flown from England to cut some of Robert Pattinson's hair for a doll."

"Breaking Dawn, Part II" (slated for release in the fall) came with such high financial stakes "tension was ripe," Anderson says. "There's not a lot of rehearsal. So before a scene with Kristen (Stewart) I had to gun up the character from the trailer to the stage. It's the first time you see this guy come to life. But until you get the gear on, you're not quite sure what he's going to be."

Appearing in BD 2, Alistair is an English nomadic vampire, and a friend of Carlisle Cullen. He is gifted with a unique tracking ability that allows him to sense animate beings (presumably humans, vampires and animals) at a distance further than most vampires can.TwiWiki

Okay totally off subject. I just saw, for the first time today, Water for Elephants. I think Robert did an excellent job. He was nothing like his "Edward" character at all. I remember some hater remarks saying that. I am not one to go out to the movies but will wait and watch on my own big screen. I'm glad I did give it a try and loved it. All did a great job. I am not a big fan of Reese in anything but she was fine.

anon @1:05...me too, I recently saw Water for elephants on dvd last week. I had decided to finally give it a try. Wow! I was so impressed by the movie because it was so different. You just don't see movies like this anymore in Hollywood, very different and refreshing, just the whole look of the movie. But I was really impressed by Robert's performance. I thought he should have been nominated for an Oscar including Christof and even the entire movie, but why do stupid movies always get nominated? Reese did a good job ,too, but there was no sexual chemistry between her and Robert at all, but still I did not think the lack of it affected the overall feel of the movie. Imagine if Marlena was played by Kristen stewart, all glammed up and elegant on top of a horse or elephant Tai, man, Robert would be drooling from a distance in the audience. I honestly think KRisten could have played Marlena, she's just that talented and the sexual chemistry would have been off the charts! Robert totally deserved that award at the People's choice awards. It was such a great film and I actually smiled the whole way through it!!! No wonder he was so giddy after the WFE premiere when he rushed Kristen into the car and stole a quick kiss, there was probably a good response from the audience at the end of the movie. Judging from his performance in WFE alone, I think he will have a long career. Now, I also just seen Remember Me, and although I didn't like this movie as much because some of the scenes were scenes that I thought just would not happen in real life, I thought Robert did a good job with portraying someone who is heartbroken, pathless, and vulnerable at the same time. And sorry, but the sex scenes were not believable because I thought it happened too quickly, there was no build up to their characters, you know? It's ok, I meet you, then we have sex on the second date or something. Also, no sexual chemistry between the lead actors, it looked forced (any dialogue scene)and enhanced by camera angles (the scene where they're spooning in bed. And the scene with the cop father breaking into his apt. and the one where he storms into his father's office in a meeting were not realistic. Overall, I give the movie a C+. But with Robert's acting, I think he just keeps getting better with every movie.
