Ben Barnes: "There were quite a few auditions. I was the first person they kind of approached about it. It was all right. I very quickly read the first ["Twilight"] book. I really enjoyed it. I think Kristen Stewart is great. I think she’s a really good actress. And I really like Catherine Hardwicke.
But then there were two things: First off, they didn’t want to mix "Narnia" and "Twilight." I think it’s dangerous to mix characters from franchises while you’re doing one. So she definitely didn’t want Prince Caspian being Edward Cullen. It doesn’t make sense. And secondly, I’d still be shooting at age 30, playing 17, and nobody wants to see that. That would be kind of sad.
And course you wouldn’t want the kind of craziness with fans and paparazzi that Robert Pattinson has to deal with in his life.

Cool! Where is that picture of Rob and Ben Barnes from? :) I love Ben Barnes but I'm still happy Rob got the role of Edward instead. I couldn't imagine anyone else as Edward. And I love Ben as Caspian.
Ben Barnes is good looking too but Robert was born to play Edward and there is no one else who could have brought Edward to life other than Robert.
Thank you once again to Catherine for judiciously choosing Robert and to Kristen for instantly knowing the right Edward for her.
Most people think that Rob gets really big from Twilight movies, I am not disagreeing with that. because mostly its true but for my point of view or maybe its just me, I think the pairing( R/K) makes fans crazy about them. I love the Twilight movies not just because of the story but because I love this couple(R/K)! I don't really watch a lot of movies but I certainly will not miss a movie with them together! I don't buy DVD, I usually just rent, but I did bought the Twilight movies!just because R/K are in it.So, when the other actors who could have played Edward Cullen saying they don't like the craziness with fans, I kinda think, are you sure they( fans) will also be like that towards them??? ... I don't know ,well, for sure not me...LOL
(No offense to the actors who didn't get the Edward Cullen job, you all are good looking but...)
@ANon 11.07 Its from Rob's HP days. Ben and Rob are friends way back, Ben is a close friend of Rob's sisters. They were classmates in school.
Seriously, does Rob know every hot, young, talented Brit? I have read about so many familiar faces attending school with Rob or his sisters or being friends with them. That must be one good looking city!
i think tne narnia stars (ben barnes and Georgie Henley ), love kristen and rob, cuz they said about them nice and cute things in their interviews,
ben said: "Kristen Stewart is great. I think she’s a really good actress", and georgie said:"I think she's done really great job going from acting alongside Jodie Foster in "Panic Room" to, now, being a fully-fledged -- and I think very talented -- actor. I think she does very well and deserves much better press than she gets. So I definitely look up to her career as well".
