4. Kristen Stewart in "The Runaways"
Let's be real: Not all of Kristen Stewart's roles are, er, strong female leads. (*Cough*Bella Swan is a whiner*cough*.) But her turn as real-life rocker Joan Jett in the musical biopic "The Runaways" was so fierce, all is forgiven.

I agree that Bella is not a whiner. New Moon is what made me start liking Kristen as an actress, it was the first one I saw. I then went back and have watched every movie she has been in, and I think she is an amazing actress in all of her movies! I think she plays every character she has done so wonderfully!! I honestly don't understand the people that say she does the same thing in every movie, I have seen them all and completely disagree. She ROCKS!!!

Kristen's Number 1 as a fierce heroine to me..she rocked as JoanJett completely & pulled it all off w/finesse & style...singing & guitar playing was awesome..I love her voice; so cool...& she mimicked all her little nuances & mannerisms & even the "badass hunch",lol to perfection! And Bella is NOT a whiner in the books or the movies for that matter--PFFT! That's not Krisbella's style ever--YEESH!
I must agree... Bella is a whinner. I really didn't like her at all in BD when she practically tortured Edward through her pregnancy and with the choices she made... She showed some maturity between Twilight and BD though... Kristen did a fantastic job portraying the book Bella. I don't think anyone else could have done a better job.
@Anon 9.43 What choices in BD? WOuld you rather Bella agree with Carlisle and Edward and dispose of Renesmee? So just she wont torture Edward? And that makes her a whiner? Sorry but I dont get your point.
Ok. I may be bias here, but Kristen was bad ass as Joan Jett, she should have been #1 in this list.
And WHY do people say Bella is a whiner? I don't recall her whining, standing up for what she wanted yes, whining, no. People always wanna give her grief....
Torture Edward, in what way exactly did she torture him? By choosing to save their daughter and make them a family?
I think we can all see that Bella's choices were right for her and ended up working out to be right for everyone else by the end of the series.

Kristen as young as she can be i perfectly believed can put into the pedestal of VERSATILE actresses. she always portrays a role with justice and dignity no matter what sacrifices it requires of herself.
and that is called DEDICATION and PROFESSIONALISM which some doesn't possess let alone entitled to one.

I don't think Bella is a whiner, actually I think she is quit strong. She fought for what she wanted and even though deciding to keep the baby to begin with upset Edward in the end he was happy that she did.

I think some people are overreacting and once again confusing Bella with Kristen. Notice they said "Bella Swan" is a whiner, not Kristen Stewart. It wasn't an attack on Kristen, just an opinion of the fictional character she portrays. Let's pick our battles people.
@JadeLily Nobody said Kristen was a whiner. Clearly, it was the Bella character that was being discussed.
Idiots to the left! Just kiiiding hehe.. That's just me! I think Bella is a strong character. It takes a whole lot of guts to decide to turn herself into a vampire, not just for her love for a man, but for self fulfillment as well. To give up the human world inorder to take a new bizarre path is one hell of a brave choice for me!! Who do you think on earth can do that? Not me.. How about you S?;) Anyone?
@ S, I was referring more to the 1st comment. From the way it was posted, it seemed like they had mistaken the mtv quote as more of a diss to Kristen as to Bella.
I guess for those who still haven't read the books,they wouldn't know that Bella is quite a strong character. She stands up for what she believes in and ends up being the one to save all of her family and friends in BD. While I'm glad they recognized Kristen's amazing role of JJ for TR,I don't like it that they downplay Bella's abilities as well. I think once BD part 2 comes out,the writers at MTV will change their tune about Bella being a weak character.
@JadeLily, nope I am not confusing Kristen with Bella, yes I went off on a little rant about Kristen's movies, but my original comment started out on how New Moon was the movie that introduced me to Kristen as an actress, and yes she was playing Bella, I then went back and watched all her other movies including Twilight and that is when I began to love her as an actress. But, to be more specific to Bella only, I don't think she is a whiner at all, I think she is an extremely strong girl who puts herself out there for her true love. In Breaking Dawn, I think she is even more strong, she goes through so much to have Renesmee, then changing to a vampire and being glad she can't scream so she doesn't hurt Edward. Sorry if you thought I was one of those people who can't tell the diff. between Kristen and Bella, but I really can! Just wanted to clear that up, have a great day everyone!!!

Bella only whined a little, where Jacob was concerned, and that was throughout Eclipse. But I don't really think that counts, since she was not really whining so much as struggling to do the right thing.

As far as Bella 'whining' throughout BD/Torturing Edward goes, well, yes, Edward was tortured, only becasue he did not understand her choice. AND Bella had every right to whine, which I dont think she did, imagine your uterus going through the changes of a 9 month pregnancy in like 3 weeks. PAINFUL!
I understand most of the comments in here, and I must agree, K rocked as Joan Jett. Im glad MTV recognized it because the movie was underrated.
Oh well...in Bella's own words she is more of a "suffer in silence type" so...not a whiner definitelly
