thank you Catherine,Rob was destined to be Edward Cullen,..Ben Barnes..Who??..he said he would have loathe to have been picked to play Edward..yeah,..ok, we believe u..,he did not get the part,thank god for that,.looking at him,I don't think that I would have loved Twilight if he got the part..he hasn't got that uniqueness.that is Rob...that sparkly beautiful smiles..that chiselled jaw..the drop dead gorgeous eyes..in other words..He just isn't Robert Pattinson! ..I bet you he is not loathing the millions Rob is getting paid for playing the role of 'Edward Cullen'now,..and in my opinion Rob is now adjusting well to his world wide fame and fortune..and especially having Kristen next to him is keeping him grounded..hugs to all:)
The director was being nice, but for Kristen there was no option, it "had to be Rob". Anyways, I did like Ben in Narnia.

LOL! So I guess Ben was one the ones that was "looking like they were just trying to pose and look good." Yea, can't beat destiny. So many stars aligned for Kristen & Rob to end up together:
1)Rob's scene from "Vanity Fair" got cut so casting director felt bad & had him audition for HP, which he got
2)They were having trouble casting Edward & after months & months thought--hey check out English actors, there may be someone in one of the HP films.
3)Rob was going to quit acting, but saw "Into the Wild" & wanted to audition with Kristen
4)After the three other guys she auditioned with, Rob was the last & they had the crazy instant chemistry "It has to be Rob."
... And the rest is history!!!
omg if he would have been edward cullen i don't think these little girls would go as krazy with Ben as they go with Rob. Though in my own opinion BEN is slight sexier than Rob. Ima fan of Rob but not that much. I mainly watch twilight kuz Kristen's been my fav actress since I was 15. but ya I don't think Ben could deal with what Rob is dealing with. Sometimes Even Rob can't deal with it. But Rob is like the sweetest most analytic guy I've known and met.
I dont know about all of you, but Id have a really hard time seeing him as an Edward Cullen. Robert IS Edward, like you have all been saying :)

It was just meant to be..just gravity that pulled ROb and Kristen together...maybe even why SM had that dream and what started the whole phenomenon..I know its silly to think maybe that is why SM had the dream but still...it had to be Rob playing Edward.
All the people who are saying they "loathe" to be Rob Pattinson i just say puhlease..and roll my eyes...Rob is loved by almost every female in the world..yes there are the downside of this fame but there are perks..and big ones too! he wishes..that's just the case but it just wasnt meant to be him.
Who knows, R/K might end up tying the knot..that will def. be a huge perk..because Rob got the girl of his dreams..literally.And also got a job/career..everything worked out for him.

The young actors that say they are relieved that they didn't get the part of Edward are all full of crap. Who whoul not want the fame that this part has brought to Rob. Ben is "cute", but Rob has that lusty, sexy, good looking as hell persona, just made for the part of Edward. If the audition was down to three Brit's and Ben was one of them, then who was the other one beside Rob?

wow i could actually see him as edward. you know, when they talked about the auditions i always thought it would be a bunch of blubbering idiots competing for the role, but ben is a great actor. it makes me feel like kristen's decision and how everything worked out had even more to do with her and robert's sizzling chemistry/fate then her and catherine and rob let on! oh to see that audition tape!! they should put in a history museum next to dorothy's shoes at the end of this!!
Kristen said it best - "It had to be Rob". Soooo glad she spoke up otherwise, I'd have one less obsession haha

Ben who? I have to concur with many of u who say Ben is a bit hypocritical when it comes to fame. I am certain he is a competent actor, but he will not reach the height of fame that Rob has now, because he does not have the "it" factor. With that being said I hope Rob chooses wisely on his next film roles and steps it up in his acting like he did for Remember Me, which was a wonderful performance. I want producers and casting agents to see him as a very viable actor in the film industry who can tackle a wide range of roles, only Rob can limit himself, he needs to push the limits and challenge himself, when he does he generally has very good results. Critics may not always agree, but the public who support him knows when he gives an outstanding performance. So Ben just stop it u are like so many who went up for a role and did not get it and say, gosh I am glad I did not get it, so am I and others around the world, we couldn't be happier that Rob won the role of Edward.

I agree 100%, I´m so happy Ben didn´t end up playing EC, he is handsome and a good actor (I recently saw him as Dorian Gray, one of my fav books, and I thought he was very good in it) but even if he would have ended up being EC by some twisted reason (Summit mainly or by Stephaie´s hand) there is no way that Kristen and Rob wouldn´t have another chance to meet or be together, like you said Shaui, it was written in the stars and totally inevitable they are meant to be, whether they worked together or not, there is an inexplicable force that was pulling them together, (I love how Rob and Kristen laugh at Catharine when they´re doing the audio commentary in the biology scene) that magnetic pull that was just waiting to strike as soon as they laid eyes on eachother.
Love Robsten, and also I agree, Ben wouldn´t be able to handle the type of adoration that our Rob has to endure, bc we do love him but some just go overboard with the love.
Anyway, Shaui, thanks for all the new post,you make it so much fun to wait around to see any news on our fav duo, and Tom Stu, love that guy, he´s so cute!! (I just saw his movie Pirate Radio, so funny, love it)

OMG I cannot imagine HIM playing Edward. Yuck. There would be NO chemistry between him and Kristen. With Rob, well, it's magic. Him and Kristen were destined to be together....in every way. Thank God CH listened to Kristen when she said it "has to be Rob". God, Rob is HOT. NO comparison...at all.
ok, now i see what kristen meant when she said Rob was perfect in an imperfect way.
Ben looks like the usual hollywood actor (perfect smile, looks and i'm sure abs)...but probably not much chemistry with kristen.
plus i did notice he does NOT have the perfectly toussled sex-hair!! that's a major fail, IMO ;)
Ben is lovely, but Kristen knows the goods when she sees it! She was only 17 and all of her instincts were spot on. Chemistry cannot be manufactured, it is or it isn't; & we all know the results. They're GOOD together, on & off the silver screen. Those long sizzling looks they give each other prove the connection, and I believe demonstrates how real love can grow from friendship (mixed with red hot sexual chemistry.)
I also understand Ben saying how he'd hate to be Rob because of how his private life has been turned into a game of hide 'n seek with pappz. I am very happy the new anti-pappz law has been signed into law by California Govern'ator! The laws were not protecting the simple privacy rights of celebrities when the pappz put them at physical risk by chasing them in cars and blinding them with flashbulbs when trying to drive away from them. Mosquitos! Squish...
but I'm rambling.
I think it's funny when actors say they are glad/relieved that they didn't get the EC part. What a load of crap! Like you have all said though, Kristen knew. If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times, Lucky Lucky girl!
@anonymous- i TOTALLY agree! i can actually completely picture ben as edward, but in a way, it makes me love robert, and robsten, more- because it meant they didnt fall in love because the boy was hot, or it was convenient, or even he was talented (bc ben is all of those things)- it was something more- like soulmates or a soul connection or something unexplainable it just makes the whole thing THAT much hotter, if that was even possible. so basically- the entire WORLD owes kristen stewart a big THANK YOU for giving us the gift of robert when we could have ended up with the wonderful, but so NOT eccentric ROB, ben barnes.
gosh im crushing ben barnes too! love him in narnia ;) but im so happy he didn't get the part. well, he's pretty...actually, he's very pretty sometimes he looks like a girl to me (like in this pic). i don't like pretty boys for kristen coz she has this rockin fierce beauty. though rob maybe a pretty boy for some, he has this sexy rugged appeal in him that makes him a perfect match for her. they balance each other perfectly on screen. and not to mention that uber hottttt chemistry between them...ummm..
