Kristen Mentioned in Gerald Nicosia's 'One and Only The Untold Story of On The Road

Photobucket Photobucket
Summary of the book One and Only; The Untold Story of On the Road by Gerald Nicosia and Anna Marie Santos. Kristen's portrayal of Lu Anne looks like it's going to be included in the book.

ECampusCom Beloved by both Jack Kerouac and Neal Cassady, Lu Anne Henderson’s story has never been told. Lu Anne was a beautiful 15-year-old girl in Denver in 1945 when she met Neal, a fast-talking hurricane of male sexuality and vast promises. The two married, and soon they were hanging out with a group of young would-be writers, including Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. But Neal and Jack initially didn’t like each other very much. Lu Anne taught them how to love each other — in effect, making the Beat Generation possible, as well as giving Kerouac material for one of the seminal novels of the 20th century, On the Road. One and Only traces the immense struggles of Lu Anne’s own life, which ranged from the split-up of her family to the ravages of abusive men and a late-life heroin addiction; and shows how her life forever intertwined with Jack’s and Neal’s. Lu Anne did not live to see the filming of On the Road by Walter Salles, but One and Only tells how Twilight’s Kristen Stewart, through her work with both Nicosia and Santos, came to find the key to playing Lu Anne in the film.

Order the book at ECampusCom or Amazon Thanks so much KStewAngel/ Robsteners

I am baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
Hello everyone!!!!!!!
I missed this place and all of you, as I thought I would.
I do not know how I will manage to catch up with something like three whole 'pages' of new posts!!! S, hi! Superwork for you in the last week, eh?
Last night I came here and saw the enormity I missed and tried to read and watch as much as possible. I am going to say this. I am blown away by the pictures of Kristen at the Mulberry show. I literally stared mouth-open at the screen for a while. This girl is like nobody else, she is impossibly beautiful. I could not believe it, the LOOOOONG BLACK HAIR, the skin, the dress, the eyes, the expressions on her face, unbelievable. And what she said concerning fashion, and heels (I am like her, I am not into high heels, I should try them sometimes...) and liking simple things, and vibrant colours (she mentions she likes yellow and I remember she wore a bright yellow skirt during some promotion stuff in... was it Australia?) I like her so much and am proud to be her fan. Hope filming for SWATH is going well like she said in the interview, she looked to me a bit tired... go Kristen!
Concerning OTR I am excited like all of you. Cannes is going to be in May, am I wrong? So this means a long way before the chance to watch it... my plan is to read the book before that time. I believe this story is so into American history that I need to research a bit because I admit I do not know much about the story and that time in America. I read that Kristen worked hard for this role, had no doubt about it, she is and will be great.
Well, let's stop for now. :) I had an amazing time on holiday and did not want to leave but it is good to be back. :)

Oh, one more thing: yesterday, on my way back, I bought something.

I´m sure Kristen did an amazing job (as always)!!!! She really forces everything she has into her roles and that´s something I admire a lot!

Welcome back Fra!
Like all of you, I'm really looking forward to this movie! Hopefully we Dutchies don't have to wait a half year longer than the other countries... If it at all will be shown here. I desperately hope I'll be able to see it at the same time as most of you here!
@S do you have any idea about it? Is it a small budget movie (which most of the time are shown here later) or a bigger movie?
Greetings from also a sunny Holland :)

I hope this movie does well but wish there could be some perspective to it that doesn't glamorize the life that is not so "free" when the big picture is seen. Nearly all of the "On The Road" real-life counterparts led lives shortened by, or lessened by, personal slavery to addictions that did some harm emotionally to their families or children. LuAnne is tragically just another girl abused, used for sex, who became an addict and wasn't the person she could have become over the years because of wasted years of addiction. There are many Lu Annes and it is sad, not romantic.

This movie is going to be amazing. With only seeing the stills and hearing the cast talk a little about it, I already feel like this is a Academy Award movie.

I know Kristen just nailed the part of MaryLou.

@anonymous 11.53am,you nailed it,it's not romantic and like you I hope it shows the hardships the people went through.I'm amazed at how they actually got around back then and with little money...they crossed country so many times you'd think it was a small country...
@mica,can't wait to see Tom and Kristen together in this movie!

@S thanks for the information. Yeah, the best thing is just to wait. In this Robstenworld my ability to be patient is growing every day

While it is true most of the people who inspired the characters in OTR didn't lead long lives, it is also a work of fiction. Screwing with the book (& yes the romanticism w which Kerouac describe this time) would alter one of the great American works. People who love this book have been waiting 50yrs for this movie, if they altered it I'm pretty sure heads would explode.

Quebec City, Nov. 1st 2011

Thanks to an advance reading copy of One and Only, I was able to bring substantial new information to my last presentation of "Jack Kerouac... le mal-aimé" (in french), last october 8. A lecture that I started presenting in 2003 about Jack's relations with his family and the miserable life endured by his "one and only" legitimate daughter, Janet (Jan) Michelle Kerouac, who died in 1996 at age 44 in New Mexico. Nothing about Jan in One and Only, but much can be found in "Jan Kerouac... A Life in Memory", also by Gerald Nicosia, a faithful friend of the K/rouac family Association.

With Gerald Nicosia, we had a brief discussion with K. Stewart in Montreal, mainly about Jan's sad story and how she'd managed to get out of the sheer Hell she had been plunged into prior to her birth. If anyone deserves a movie, it's Jan.

As we see it, the meeting of K. Stewart and Marylou's daughter was a blessing for both. Just those pages are well worth this book which tells much about the truth behind Jack's fabulations.
