Kristen and Jake Scott Talk about WTTR's 'Unexpected' Ending With MTV

MTV There is no fairy-tale ending in "Welcome to the Rileys," which opened in select cities last week. The story of a grieving couple (James Gandolfini and Melissa Leo) who take a teen stripper named Mallory (Kristen Stewart) under the wings and try to show her how to live a better life is not wrapped up in a neat little bow, as is often the case in Hollywood flicks. (Beware of "Welcome to the Rileys" spoilers below!)

At least, that's not how it ends in the cut that hit theaters last week. In that version, Mallory declines to return to the couple's home with them and instead takes off to keep stripping in a new city. Yet that wasn't the original ending, as MTV News learned at the red-carpet premiere earlier this month.

"The original ending was very different, and they all moved in with each other and started making grilled cheese sandwiches and started watching movies on the sofa," explained director Jake Scott. "That was something we decided to change because it felt inauthentic."

In a quest for authentic storytelling, Scott returned to his experiences with his own children and how he interacts with them while away on business. "We speak on the phone and you talk about nothing," he said. "The writer Ken Hixon and I discussed this, and Ken wrote this amazing scene at the end with them just talking on the phone. I was after authenticity and truth, and that seemed like the better way to go."

Stewart, too, adored the fact that "Rileys" didn't reach for an unrealistically happy ending, but settled for an authentic one that still hints at how Mallory is attempting to change for the better.

"That's definitely one thing I loved about the script," she told us. "It was so good, I didn't expect it to end like that. Not that any of us can be as presumptuous to think we know that we're doing something so real that we would know how things would work out. But it does seem far from realistic to think Mallory would suddenly change everything she is. What you do see is she's sort of opened her eyes a little bit and seen that she has the potential and capacity to not be alone."

Quem.Globo Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart landed in Brazil on Friday (5), on the International Airport
Antonio Carlos Jobim, Rio de Janeiro. They arrived at their hotel around 12pm. Fans are gathered outside the hotel waiting for the actors.

The car accessed the back entrance. Apparently, Kristen slept the whole way between the airport and
the hotel, according to a report of QUEM. Thanks to BraGirl2 for the translation.

I will not be disclosing their location, destination, itineraries - so do not bother indicating it in the comments.

They landed! Rob and Kristen's entourage already landed (November 5, 2010) safely in Brazil. It is said that they spent time at the VIP room with Stephenie Meyer. It is also reported that they will be transported by helicopter to their next destination. via KStewDefenders Apparently, they were driven to their hotel in SUVs but the helicopter will be used for a panoramic tour of Rio later today.

Nope, no private plane or business class for R/K and the Rio entourage. I hope there is a logical explanation for this. Maybe they were on a tight schedule and they were short of options. Maybe this is a connecting flight, since there is no direct flight from New Orleans Airport to Galeao...Lots of maybes...

I hope we are really looking at a new picture here. You know pranksters are abound. This may even be taken from one of their flights awhile back. Again, take it with grain of salt. If this is real, we are expecting them to land in a few hours.

The Possibility of TayCob in Rio

TwiExaminer- Ms. Amanda Bell "So over the past few days, when discussions about The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn filming in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil have surfaced, Taylor Lautner's name has been attached to them, and in some instances Mackenzie Foy's has as well.

Of course, Lautner portrays Jacob, and Foy is to portray Nessie/Renesmee. Lexicon notes, "fans are speculating if true, it’s a part of a dream sequence or Bella imagining Jake on the run with Nessie."

[This post is riddled with spoilers, by the way.]

This sounds about right. Except that the first idea can't be true because in the book, Bella doesn't know Nessie until she is a vampire (having dreamed of a baby that was a boy, and certainly unaware of the connection the child would have with Jake before it actually happened). And vampires don't sleep; so they don't dream. The second notion may be it, though - an imagination of some sort.

So, I looked throughout the third book in Breaking Dawn for some clue as to why the two characters would need to film in Rio, and here's my thought (please do share yours in the comments):

On page 673, there's a moment in which Bella has prepared the paperwork for Jacob and Renesmee to escape (via J. Jenks - you remember that part, I'm sure), and she has a hope that Alice and Jasper, who she knows are in South America because they have sent Zafrina and Senna along to help, will be of assistance to them.

Then I stared at the blank ivory page for a full five minutes, concentrating on my decision. Alice might not be able to see Jacob or Renesmee, but she could see me. I visualized her seeing the moment, hoping desperately that she wasn't too busy to pay attention.
Slowly, deliberately, I wrote the words RIO DE JANEIRO in all caps across the page.

What I'm thinking is that Alice might visualize the decision and the result - Jacob and Renesmee in Rio. That would explain them bringing Taylor Lautner and Mackenzie Foy along for the Isle Esme ride in Rio, wouldn't it? Of course, it could be a whole lot more creative than that - Bella visualizing the two gallivanting around in peace in Rio, Alice picturing meeting up with them in Rio (by that logic, Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone would have to head to Rio, too, I suppose), etc. Still, the concept that this is a vision of some sort is strong, and it also lends credibility to reports which suggest Lautner (and potentially Foy) might join the others in Brazil.

It's just one idea, and of course there is nothing official to say Lautner actually is going to Rio. But you hear things often enough, and it makes you wonder. Looking at the books, this seems like a plausible explanation."

I have seen this possibility mentioned in the comments section, as well. Again, there is still no official word about Taylor being in Rio, so... we all just have to wait.
