Kristen's IF Mag Interview

It's A New Moon For Twilight Star - Kristen Stewart

Here are excerpts from the interview.
Part 1:

As with all celebrities, the price of fame is the loss of a certain amount of privacy. Stewart is no exception to this rule. Paparazzi follow her constantly, waiting to break a “story” about her latest antics. Stewart has learned to deal with the negatives of stardom.

"I’ve gotten more comfortable with the whole rumor, tabloid stuff,” Stewart states. “It’s so obviously false to me. Look, even before I became a part of it, once I sort of became a star…it’s like a show. It’s like a ridiculous show.”

A “show” is how she frames it, “With false realism like a soap opera that seems real but you’re not quite sure,” she adds. “It doesn’t bother me. I don’t take it personally. Luckily, because I’ve had so much experience it’s gotten easier to talk about the work.”

Nosey journalists aren’t the only people Stewart has to worry about. Rabid fans of TWILIGHT can be found the world over. Stewart recalls a time when she and Taylor Lautner, who plays Jacob Black, were in Brazil while Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward, was in Japan.

“This guy was chasing after us,” recalls Stewart. “There was a huge crowd anyway but this one very persistent fellow was like, ‘Where is Robert!? Where is Robert!?’ I couldn’t stop laughing and I felt really bad because he was distraught and emotional and I was like, ‘It’s just Robert.’ It was really funny.” The rest of Part 1 here

Part 2.
I’m very protective of (Bella),” says Stewart, emphasizing the point. “I feel a shared ownership. It’s weird. If you were talk about the character in a way that was not at all thought out or flippant I would be right there to say that you didn’t know what you were talking about. I’m so defensive of her.”

It’s safe to say that Stewart considers herself an authority when it comes to all things Bella. Now that that is established, maybe we can get some insight as to what Bella faces in the second installment of the series. We must know one thing about Bella, according to Stewart, if we are to understand her trials in NEW MOON: she fears change.

“She’s so terrified of change because she’s been thrust into this world,” she adds. And by “this world” Stewart is referring to the feelings Bella has for her vampire lover, Edward, and the consequences of that love. But if there’s one thing to expect from NEW MOON, it’s change. TWILIGHT ended with Edward and Bella happily dancing together at their prom, Bella wishing to become a vampire, Edward simply kissing her on the neck. NEW MOON makes an abrupt left turn from that point. The new tone of the movie was both challenging and enjoyable for Stewart.

“I had a really good time on this movie,” begins Stewart. “It was intense. Just because of the nature of the story, it goes in a completely different direction. We undermine the first [film]. We establish a very ideological [view] of love and basically tell our main character, our main protagonist that she was wrong and it’s like, ‘Where’s our story." The rest of Part 2 here
