Old HQ Pics of Kristen, TayStew, and Ruth Bernstein- Tokyo, February 2009
New/Old Pic of Rob with Tai. ScreenMag Scans and Translation- Japan.
This article is based on an interview with Rob, at the LA premiere of movie “Water For Elephants”, by a reporter from Japan’s magazine “SCREEN”. Compilation of old/new quotes.
English Translation: mina
Rob: ”I finally decided to get a dog, found him at the shelter. To tell you the truth, I wanted to adopt all the dogs there and run a “Dog Ranch” and let them do whatever they want to do. But I guess it is not the time yet; I am willing to do so in the near future. My dog which is a mixed breed, seems to get big, that’s why I named him Bear. I want to have him around me all the time, and I want to take him with me everywhere. I grew up with dogs with my family, there were always dogs in my life. If I reincarnate and become an animal I definitely want to be a dog. They would do nothing much but eat and go for a walk; and for the rest would be either watching TV or taking nap. There’s not much difference with my life anyways. I am not too much of a fan of dog food, but I would be happy with a sandwich from the In’n Out every day. I became friends with an elephant since I worked with her in “Water For Elephants”. I’ve learned that not too much hugging or petting is needed to get around with the wild animals. We treat them as a part of the family, but you never know how they think about you in return. Like, if you are moving around a huge elephant, you need to be careful, if she steps on you that’s it. You still have to be very cautious around the trained animals.”
Rob: “Me and my friends went on a road trip around the States, it was interesting; people are different in each state. There was even a place with no phones. It was fun, many people didn’t even recognize me. When I go back in England, people notice me and look down to pretend I’m not there. Some tourists notice me though.”

Clara-blog.Japan Rob:People ask me if I believe in existence of Vampires, I actually do not believe in the story.(Laugh)
Since I have been doing Edward, and every 6 months I come back to the set of Twilight and the crew would ask me “How have you been? You look a year older than last time I saw you.” Maybe that is why I feel like I age faster than usual. I just had my 24th birthday the other day, it seems like time flies so fast and I feel like I am 35 years old already.
Rob: Every time I finish the shooting and get away from the sequel, I forget how much this character meant to me, it is really sad. It is fun to come back to the set and do Edward and realize that I am trying to enhance my acting skill. It is really challenging to bring all the experiences I have done into my acting skill. Things happen and vanish, like supernova in a way. To be a well skilled actor, I would need another 10 years.
Rob:I have found really nice agent for myself; they are really close friends at the same time. The thing is, most of the Hollywood actors believe that the agents are the person who brings the new job, like “Oh, if you don’t fetch a good assignment, you are fired!”.
But I do not feel that way toward my agent. I think it is you that who seeks a new assignment for yourself. So, I keep a good friendly distance with them and they know where I come from. Not that I do not wish to success, but we have the same devotion toward work. Most of the movies I have done recently are the scripts that I had read before the opening of “Twilight”. Those are the scripts I read and I liked. There were some scripts that I thought it may not make it and all the sudden it become reality. I think I like one of those indies production better than the ones that you know who will be in and the date of the opening day already. Those are the one of the blockbusters but to me those that only seeks for the market is not interesting enough to be casted. I prefer an actor like a Futures trading dealer. It is much exciting.(laugh)
=Robert Pattinson STORY=
Rob: Fame is like an imaginary thing after all. If you are not talented, you can’t use the power of the fame. If you are famous, that doesn’t mean that you have them all, or you get the enough wealth to live happily ever after.
Gossips and Tabloids pick up every bit of the someone who got famous in this instant, and they do not care of invading one’s privacy at all. That is one of the reason people lose their interests in movies or the mysterious side of the actors.
Robert has started seeking his career after “Twilight saga” sequel. He does not wish to vanish his career in this hysteria and mass media’s too much attention.
Rob: This hysteria will soon over, like in a year or so; I try to ignore those crazy gossips. That is how I keep myself. I would like to do couple of more small productions, but I have my ambition to do a bigger film in the future.
Rob: It was really tough to go through that people recognize me as an actor who does the popular sequels. Most of the blockbusters has recognitions of that sort, but at least Kristin and I are not doing “Twilight” because of that.
He mentions that he also understands that because of this “Twilight” fame, people keep sending him all sorts of scripts and productions.
Rob: Because I did “Twilight” and recognized, people send me many scripts to have my eye on, but I don’t think I am changed in the way I choose the script. I do not have a special feature in myself, it is not too difficult to find a script. I tend to pick the ones that I haven’t done of.
Rob: Before I became an actor, I thought I could not complete anything. But now, I think I started to climb up my mountain. It may take 10 more years to say that I have all the confidence in what I do. I feel great to be an actor; acting makes me feel like I still have a hope in my future.
Rob: One thing I have fear about is what kind of projects I will do and how the public will react for that. It looks silly even to me sometimes, but that is my fear. That is why I don’t have publicist and I‘d like to choose what I will do by myself. It is a lot easier to have someone decide what you will do, but I do not want to blame someone other than myself when things went wrong. I wish to be a prudent actor, but I also know that it is difficult to control yourself that much as an actor. So, I think being in “Twilight” made a great progress in my acting carrier.

Interviewer: Do you feel tired of acting Edward over and over again?
Robert: I try to find something different in each sequel. As I get older I have different opinions or point of view to the story. And We have different director each time which is good; they bring us whole different idea. I also think that it is good that we are still young; we are still in the middle of the career and we are hungry to prove ourselves’ strength. Kristen may be has the longest career, but she is too, only 20 years old. There is no one who is yawning and say “so bored, I only here for money.” We are not making a movie that is not appeal to no one. There are so many people waiting for us to do a great job making a fantastic movie, I aware of that.
Interviewer: So, in Eclipse, Bella has negative feeling for marriage, how do you feel about it for yourself?
Kristen: Well, I don’t deny wanting to get married. Not that I am saying that I will marry soon, but I do have a wonderful family. So in the future I would like to have one for myself.
Interviewer: In what circumstances do you feel you are happy?
Kristen: When I am not lying to anybody including myself.
Japanese Theatrical Magazine 'FLIX' December - 2010 Issue
Edward accepted the fact that Bella and Jacob kissed; very calm never getting angry at her.
Robert: If I was Edward? I would break up with a girl like that and say “Oh you cheated on me.” (Laugh) I somehow respect Edward for that, and in fact that is the very scene I like the most in the Eclipse. He did what I can’t do. This is the very moment he did something very heroic. In the last sequel, he did what he thought the best choice and made her desperately miserable. So now he does whatever it takes to be with her.
Ordinary people would say “It’s OK, I forgive you” and soon after blame her “You’ve done such a thing!” but Edward did not. He overcome with envy & fear and thought “I know she loves me. And that is enough.” That is not an easy thing to do.
He told us about what he got for his friends as souvenir when he visited Japan for the first time.
Robert: There was a shopping mall near where we stayed, and I got whole bunch of stuff there. One of them was tooth paste that tastes like Curry or something weird. I got like two dozen of them and gave them to my friends; it was awesome to see their reactions! (Laugh)

Rob in Screen Magazine - Scans and Translation- Japan December 2010

The supplementary booklet includes an introduction to the story of the Twilight series episodes one to three, a map showing the relationship between the characters, interviews with Rob, Taylor, and Kristen, a feature on the American movie posters, production notes, etc. All the scans are here Also in the magazine is an introduction to “How to be” DVD that will be released on November 3. The following is an excerpt of the overseas, non-Eclipse related portion of the interview.
Q: Apart from the Twilight series you choose art house style films, why is that?
Rob: Twilight is also a small independent film by an independent director, it’s a dark and tragic drama. I still can’t get used to the fact that it has suddenly become a hit. So I’m making film after film without a break, not thinking about the fact that I have become famous. I decided that I didn’t want to appear in Hollywood blockbusters, so I choose small features as I did before.
Q: In the next episode, Breaking Dawn, Edward becomes a father?
Rob: Actually in “Water For Elephants ” I’m the father of five children! I can’t imagine Edward and Bella having children, I know Kristen will play it well so I will take my lead from her.
Q: Who is your ideal woman?
Well… first they have to love dogs. Also not shouting in a loud voice, they’re the only two conditions, after that it’s just a matter of whether we get on well.

Rob in Theater/Culture T Mag- Scans and Translation - Japan
Theater Culture Magazine ”T”
English translation (Excerpt of part)
"Robert is a 'hot star' among teens, and likely expected to choose parts that his fans would expect."
Rob"I chose a part where people would see me as a human being. I don't want to be typecast and wanted to be recognized as an individual. It's not about public image, but about me continuing my career. I thought it was important to give a performance that would leave a different impression than those up to this point."
The sudden rise of popular actors such as Robert Pattinson (and Zac Efron,Sam Worthington,James McAvoy) threaten to dethrone other sexy stars like Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt. That is because they have made clever plans to focus their careers along the same path that their predecessors have already traveled. They want to become something more than a flash-in-the-pan "sex symbol", but actors whose popularity does not soon fade away.
Looking at things this way, "sexy" actors have a future of many possibilities ahead of them, so long as they ensure they are flexible. Without adhering to a single image, they delve into new projects and, together with the creators of these works, go on discovering new sides to themselves. It seems simple on the surface, but if they do not have a good grasp of who they are, there is no point to it at all.
Those actors who challenge themselves without limit will continually embody different images, which in turn will keep their audience excited and interested. Those actors who can make people think, "I want to see more and more of his movies!" are the ones who will become enduring "sex symbols".
