I know it may seem "fame-whorish" at times but she's just being asked questions, and we all know how she answers them passionately. lol And, I think that is her privelege for coming up with "Rob and Kristen" as our Edward and Bella, in the first place. The most perfect casting in recent years in the history of cinema. Phenomenal to say the least.

"Edward wasn't that easy. "The bar is so high," Hardwicke says. "Every two pages there's a comment about how gorgeous he is ... I met all of these guys I felt were quite good, but they didn't have that special other quality that they were alive for 105 years." She took Robert Pattinson and three other actors to her house in Venice, Calif., to run lines with Kristen. They played the biology-class scene in the dining room. They moved the cars out of the garage and did the "How long have you been 17?" scene there. Then they did the kissing scene on Hardwicke's bed. "I played it like a guy who is beating himself up a lot about everything," Pattinson says. "I don't think anyone else did it like that. I guess I tried to ignore every aspect of the confident hero of the story." It worked. Stewart and Hardwicke were sold.
Selling Pattinson to Summit was tougher. He wasn't a star--his biggest role was Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire--and he didn't look like a star. "He was disheveled," Hardwicke says. "He was a different weight. His hair was different and dyed black [he had just played Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes]. He was all sloppy. The studio head said, 'You want to cast this guy as Edward Cullen?' I said yeah. And he said, 'Do you think you can make him look good?' I said yes, I do."
By all accounts, the chemistry between the two leads was intense, maybe too intense. "After I cast him, I told Rob, Don't even think about having a romance with her," Hardwicke says. "She's under 18. You will be arrested." It was the beginning of the real-life are-they-aren't-they, did-they-didn't-they speculation that is now an ongoing subplot of the Twilight story. "I didn't have a camera in the hotel room. I cannot say," Hardwicke says. "But in terms of what Kristen told me directly, it didn't happen on the first movie. Nothing crossed the line while on the first film. I think it took a long time for Kristen to realize, O.K., I've got to give this a go and really try to be with this person."

The Twilight Chemistry of Rob and Kristen
Our reader Maia sent this picture via email days ago and luckily I chanced upon the article that confirms the above quotes. I am guessing Catherine Hardwick. Since we are all addicts for anything Bella and Edward and of course, Rob and Kristen, I have gotta share this with you.
This was from a set visit by MTV and Catherine Hardwick interview from the early days of Twilight production. Things are a LOT different then, they were inviting media left and right and doing a lot marketing for Stephenie Meyer's best seller series while Hardwick and company were crossing their fingers that their little movie will follow through somehow with the success of the books.
Here are just some of the most interesting Rob-Kris parts, which I know you will all love to know.
"Robert Pattinson and co-star Kristen Stewart are lying side-by-side on the dewy grass, caressing each other's cheeks and attempting to create "Romeo and Juliet"-like intimacy despite a dozen crewmembers who bob and weave around them just barely out of frame.
"We sat around my dining-room table for, like, two entire nights with the script," explained the 18-year-old, who plays Bella in the film.
"Two nights?" Pattinson shot back. "It was more than two nights!"
"Well, it was actually all preproduction," Stewart said of their attempts to capture a romance seen by some as the iconic love story of their generation. "But there were two nights that we were actually, like, productive."
"Take after take concludes with the same sequence of events: Hardwicke steps in to give her thoughts, the young actors pair off (usually in the same groupings as their decades-long lovers in the film), and Stewart hops up on the workbench to have a moment alone. Since the scene ends with Bella in the backseat of Carlisle's Mercedes, being driven away from Edward, Stewart ends each shot with a tear so dependable you could set your watch to it.
No one bothers Stewart between takes as she comes back from whatever place she has to go to find her sorrow. On almost every occasion, it is Pattinson who will eventually walk over, give her shoulder a light rub, and bring her back for the next take. If chemistry is a concern to the "Twilight" fans, they can sleep well from here on out. "

It is touching to know that Rob even then, cared and looked after her co-star Kristen. We all know that he is such a gentleman. This article just confirms it and more.
Why we love Catherine Harwicke
Kris, Rob, and Catherine at the Twilight Premier in Rome last year.I loved Lords of Dogtown, first because Heath Ledger was in it and I think it was so fresh and appealing. That is how I came across with the feisty, Catherine Hardwicke. Of course, with her spearheading Twilight last year, only made my love for her tripled a hundred times over. Not only she casted the perfect Bella and Edward but because she never fails to make her audience so involved with her characters. And her movies are never predictable, like Thirteen, and I always love the indy feel that she brings to it.
With her latest interview, she again filled us on some more deets about scenes she planned in doing but was cut because of money-issues, including the "blood typing" scene. That was a big loss for the fans, I would have loved to see Rob carry Kristen to the clinic and sneer at Mike Newton. Summit really was beyond being clueless to how big Twilight was going to be.
She also outed Rob (again) and mentioned his "style" during the last Teen's Choice where Twilight took all 11 major awards. Yep, it is now confirmed that his red plaid shirt was the one his buddy Marcus Foster wore the night before when he had a gig. Who really owns it, nobody knows yet. This is what makes Rob endearing and I am not planning to call a stylist anytime soon, only for the Oscar's perhaps.
