GossipCopSummit Entertainment has just announced that Breaking Dawn Part 1, the fourth installment in the Twilight Saga, has grossed an estimated $701.3 million globally since the film was released in November.

Breaking Dawn Part 1 , starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, is also on its way to becoming the highest grossing film in the series.

The film is just a few million dollars away from passing New Moon, which took in $709.8 million.

Eclipse and Twilight grossed $698.5 million and $390.4, respectively .

Breaking Dawn Part 1 has yet to be released in several countries, including Japan and China.

The film company’s co-chairmen Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger said in a statement: “The milestone is important on several fronts and illustrates the vitality of the franchise on a global scale even after four films. Stephenie Meyer’s story and characters were brought to the screen this time via the talented hands of Bill Condon along with the cast and crew that has been with the film franchise since its inception. We are very proud of the success the franchise has experienced and anticipate the saga’s conclusion this November.”

Breaking Dawn Part 1 hits theaters on November 16, 2012.

Rotten Tomatoes Names 'Water for Elephants' The Highest Opening Weekend for a Drama in 2011

Photobucket
Rotten Tomatoes Reese Witherspoon and Robert Pattinson drew a solid crowd for their romantic drama Water for Elephants which premiered in third place with an estimated $17.5M. Based on the best-selling novel, the PG-13 film averaged $6,212 from 2,817 locations and played heavily to female audiences, lovers of the book, and Twilight fans that follow Pattinson religiously. Critics had mixed feelings but the built-in audiences came out anyway giving Fox the best opening for an adult drama this year so far. Mature-skewing thrillers and comedies have done exceptionally well this year, but regular dramas have seen more modest numbers on the first weekend. An A- CinemaScore suggests a good run ahead as counter-programming to a steady diet of testosterone flicks about to attack multiplexes.

GossipCop: 'Water for Elephants' Opens Big. Comes in 3rd.

PhotobucketGossipCop Rio holds off strong performances by Tyler Perry and Robert Pattinson to win the Easter Weekend box office. The animated bird tale earned $26.5 million for the top spot, followed by Madea’s Big Happy Family, which was a close second with $26.1 million.

Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon’s Water For Elephants came in third with $17.6 million.

Easter bunny film Hop took fourth place with $12 million, while Scream 4 came in a distant fifth with $7.1 million. Rounding out the Top Ten were African Cats ($6.1 million), Soul Surfer ($5.5 million), Insidious ($5.2 million), Hanna ($5 million), and Source Code ($4.8 million).

This was released April 24th 4:15 a.m. I'm pretty sure GC will update BO results later in the day to include Easter Sunday's figure.

Overperforming in its opening was Fox 2000’s period circus romance Water for Elephants, which debuted to $17.5 million from 2,817 locations. Based on Sara Gruen’s bestselling book and directed by Francis Lawrence, the film stars Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson and Christoph Waltz.

Water for Elephants drew an A- CinemaScore, and played heavily to adult women. Females made up 70% of the audience, while 70% were over the age of 25. The film’s successful opening is a win for Fox’s marketing team, which targeted fans of the book, as well as playing up the love story.

'Harry Potter: Deathly Hollows' Fell Short of 'Eclipse' Midnight Record

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 conjured a lively $24 million in estimated box-office from a record 3,700 theaters in the U.S. and Canada offering midnight-Thursday performances of the action fantasy.
Its midnight box office fell just short of record territory. Last summer’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse rung up $30 million in witching-hour coin as part of its $68.5 million first-day tally on Wednesday, June 30.

But for IMAX...
Midnight receipts for Hallows: Part 1 included $1.4 million from high-grossing Imax specialty venues. That is a record, surpassing Imax’s $1 million midnight contribution by Summit Entertainment’s Eclipse. More at TheHollywoodReporter

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows brought in $24 million across the nation last night, as fans lined up for midnight showings of this blockbuster. While impressive, though, that tally falls short of two Twilight Saga installments.
The record-holder for midnight showing haul is Eclipse, which earned $30 million during the first two hours of its release. That figure topped the previous best: New Moon's $26.3 million. The HollywoodGossip Tnx @tailien
