i'm thinking the dvd is going to release in late march/early april in the US. that's how it was for twilight and new moon.
the special features for the twilight dvd from target was awesome. i can't help but hope that we get a version like that for breaking dawn... or a director's cut.

I will be pre-ordering and counting the days until this DVD arrives no matter what they put on it, though, my favorite additional feature is always the director's commentary. I love hearing their descriptions, hows, and whys of their choices and I'm especially interested in hearing what Bill has to say about the making of his masterpiece.
Hopefully, though, this list is not definitive and there'll also be Rob and Kristen commentary as well as Wick and Stephenie commentary.
I'm thinking this DVD is just preliminary and may not have the potentially R-rated material (though, certainly it could). They may hold those extended scenes for the 2-DVD boxed set of both movies, or even the 5-DVD boxed set of all the movies. Or they may be releasing a Director's Cut after the first one comes out. Who knows, but it does seem there'll be at least three releases of it: this one, the one with BD1 and BD2, and the one with all five movies. Surely. Hope so anyway, as long as they all include additional features, like Edward playing the entire lullaby he plays in BD2 on that DVD. It is, after all, a once in a lifetime ride. Might as well go all out.

I love this movie and I hope they let Rob & Kristen do the audio commentary because when they did eclipse and twilight, it was funny. It sucked that there was none for new moon. I hope they have extended or deleted scenes that we wanted in the move...(: Call me greedy, but hey that's why i'm a fan!

Wow, that sucks! No deleted scenes, no commentary? I hope this source is wrong. What gives Summitt?
My friend has a theory that they are going to hold onto all the cool extra footage we want to see, like deleted and extended scenes, and wait like five years after both movies have been released and then release a special collectors edition box set of all the movies including all the extra footage that they never included in the original DVD releases.
This is a fairly likely possibility with a huge movie franchise like this one. It's been done many times in the past. And they want to keep people interested years after it's all over and keep taking people's money anyway they can, so I can see them doing that. But I guess I thought they would still give a little something more on this DVD release than they apparently are.
RK commentary!!!!! but i guess that only counts for fans coz you know Bill sure have a lot to comment in this movie, like how they did this scene or that... but still hoping....

Hey, i know that it sux that there is no commentary with RK but meybe they don't want to do it, we can't make them. Its not the end of the world maybe they are not confortable with seeing all the kissing and sex scenes and commenting on them,don't make pettitions guy's it's embarasing..
i saw this movie and did like some things about it. but to me the first movie twilight is still my favorite out of the bunch. allways have been. and i don't like these new covers at all.

XD I am bawling my hopeless "ol' sap" eyes out listening to my favorite songs: (obviously) "flightless bird, american mouth" but I absolutely fell in love with "turning page" and I just lost it with "Requiem on water"! T^T There was far too much going on when I went to go see it for me to concentrate on the soundtrack seemlessly coinciding with the scenes. Now that I have been able to put them together, I am an absolute wreck!XD
I bet a lot of people will be using the turning pages song for their wedding!

tbh i have never listened to the commentaries, even the ones with R/K. i am hoping they have extended and deleted scenes.
PRAYING TO GOD that this is not the final special features for the dvd.
Literally I will be devastated if there is no extented/deleted scenes or R/K commentary. I mean what's the point of buying the 2 disc if the special features are gonna be so short. Come on that list is like NOTHING compared to what they could (and should) put on there.
I mean even like 'the notebook' put loads of deleted/ extended scenes, including the sex scene. And the film 'bridesmaids' has a cinema version and a dvd version of the film. I mean why can't they do that? It's like one of the biggest fan.bases going and summit can't accommodate their fans like other movies? Which yeah had an great fan base but nothing like Twilight.

I'll be buying the DVD no matter what extra features are or are not included, but I am definitely hoping for R/K commentree (want it soooo badly, but am trying to not get my hopes up) and some deleted/extended scenes. I'm betting we get some scenes, but maybe not THE exact one that we want *tears*....with Christmas so close, maybe we should write letters to Santa as well as Summit ;) "Dear Santa, I've been such a good (gutter) girl this year, could I please, please, please have some Robward thrusting..." ahhh, well, maybe one day like RockFan said, we'll get some huge compilation of all the movies and the extras and it will be in there. I'm not usually very interested in the director's commentary and have usually only given it a cursory one-time run-through just to say I listened to it, but I will absolutely listen to BC with interest. He seems to get the fandom so deeply, I can't wait to hear his thoughts. Now just waiting to hear the release date...Thanks, S, for all the info!

To give you an idea, the DVD release date is 03/21/2012 in France (from amazon.fr). So it will most likely be around that time for the US too. And also waiting for more info on the special features - there's still hope for some nice surprises, BD came out only about a week ago after all. :)

Well that's a disappointment! I think the only thing that sounds interesting is the wedding video. And maybe Bills commentary because he's an interesting guy. There really doesn't seem to be enough extras to warrant two disks. They could fit all that onto the one disk. I'm holding out hope for some deleted scenes seen as Bill and Wyck Godfrey have both mentione them and I think considering all the talk about the love scenes being rated R they would be missing a huge opportunity to cash in on all the talk about it. It just seems so strange that there's so little extras!

I can't believe we're already salivating over the dvd and the movie is just a little over a week old. Sheesh! Let's us enjoy watching the movie a few times in the theaters,before dropping this early present on us. Not that I'm complaining of course,but this really makes us want our copies already. LOL!

So far, very disappointing. Only thing I have to look forward to is the B&E personal wedding vid. Booooo! I really really REALLY hope there is more. Come on BC!!! Don't let us down! If nothing else, give us R&K commentry.
Let's not panic people. Remember they never officially confirmed Kristen would attend the UK premiere but she showed. This is probably just the preliminary list. I'm sure they won't advertise an R/K commentary until it's actually recorded just on the off chance they can't deliver. And Bill himself has said we will see deleted scenes on the DVD so I'm not worried. As for the R-rating/Director's Cut, I think BC mentioned it definitely won't happen on the DVD released this spring but he won't rule it out happening sometime in the future. His focus right now is and should be on making BD2 the best it can be, not reediting BD1 for a director's cut. Let's give the man a break and bask in the BD1 glow.

Come on, guys, Summit is not going to give us everything at the first chance if they have the opportunity to squeeze more money from us with compilation dvds and stuff like that.
They have to save some material for it.
By the way, the person in charge of choosing E&B pictures for posters and dvd covers should be fired asap. That person: a) has no taste, b) hates de stars of the movie
