Breaking Dawn Will Not Be First R-Rated Twilight Movie, Summit Confirms
IndieWire During his promotional rounds for Water for Elephants, E.W. and Vanity Fair cover-boy Rob Pattinson talks about life beyond Twilight—“I literally feel like we’ve been doing it my whole life” he says, and the upcoming Breaking Dawn movies.
Bizarre things happen in the two films, including a half-vampire baby’s horrid birth. Pattinson says: “There’s some interesting and weird stuff going on—really very, very, very strange. It’s great. For a big mainstream movie, it’s the most obscure story line and really outside the box. It’s a horror movie. I’ve seen a few bits, and I just can’t see how it’s going to be PG-13… unless they cut everything out!”
Rest assured, everyone. An R-rating will never happen, confirms a Summit spokeswoman: “Breaking Dawn will be a PG-13. It will not be rated R.”

Yep, we had the PG-13 confirmation mid-last year but because of Rob's interviews, Summit had to remind us again. And its still a bummer! lol

OK... like we didn't know that already...
But I don't care! There are a thousand PG-13 movies whose sex and scary scenes should be illegal! :P! So I'm sure it's gonna be pretty steamy!! Come on give us hot sex scenes and bloody births!!! Haha!! To be honest I'm not completely into the bloody birth although I would like to see Rob biting her all over!!!
They should do an R rated DVD version for us consenting adults!

Of course it's PG-13. Summit want kids and teens to see this movie.They mean a lot of money for them.
But I'm sure there will be some hot scenes maybe scary ones too (birth ;-)).
i know more adults and older teenagers that like twilight than younger people.

Here's the thing,they're going to push the PG-13 rating to the very limit,but just enough to not cross the line into R-territory. I've seen some PG-13 films,where the love scenes were pretty steamy without showing too much. An R-rating for BD,would mean seeing nudity in the love scenes and Summit wants to avoid making "Bella and Edward make a porno". Of course 99% of the fans would love to see an R-rated BD,but that's not going to happen. I think we'll see some tastefully done love scenes in BD,that will be very steamy and enough to satisfy the older fans in the audience.
I think the birth scene will be blurry anyway (b/c it's through Bella's mind, who's out of it).

I'm all for a special R-rated director's cut DVD--that would certainly equal more money!
You know what, even if it was rated R, here in Greece it would still probably come as PG-13! They had Love and other Drugs as PG-13 here, can you believe that?? And it had a LOT of sex and nudity, definitely R rated!! lol! I don't know why they had it PG-13 here!
@teamrobandkris I SO agree! They totally should have unrated deleted scenes!!!!
But anyway, I would be totally on board with the R rating, but like @Marion said, I believe they are gonna push it as far as it can go! Let's not forget, sex in the movies means more audience, even if it's the Twilight movies, which has a big teenage audience! So I guess the thing that is gonna be missing from the scenes are female breasts, buttocks (although we all got to see a little bit of buttocks if you know what I'm talking about *wink*) and genitals, as well as very graphic sex movements! Take these things off, add a great director (Bill Condon, duh) and you can have the hottest sex scene ever!! So let's just have our fingers crossed that it's going the way we hope for, because so far, and since we're sticking to the PG-13 aspect of the situation, things look great in my opinion!;)

@kevin- I agree... I know more people around my age that like it more than teenagers and pre-teens. I think they are more into "The Hunger Games".

I think the majority of Rob's fans know he was joking around about this. I just hope Summit doesn't give him a hard time about what he said. We already knew it would be PG-13, duh! But, I agree that I would love to be able to get a R rated DVD.
@Malia, my sentiments exactly. After waiting all these years I'm gonna be bummed if scenes emd up on the cutting room floor!!! :( I want to see and feel the intensity of the book...blood, gore, horror and sex!!!!!
I'd totally buy a "in the gutter" version of the DVD. It would be worth every penny!
I'm all over an unrated or R-rated DVD! They can even bring it out 6 months after the regular DVD releases to make more money--it's been done before & plenty of people would buy a second DVD soley for the super steamy stuff. I know I would. Any of you gutter-dwellin' gals with me?
With all the rumors flying around, it's good for them to refresh everyones mind on PG13.
Also, did Rob speak publicly that it's gonna be like a horror film OR was that printed material in a mag where they twist and turn words to make the article the way they want it??
My point is don't believe everything in print.

Lol, I think all the fans would love it if Breaking Dawn were rated R. Although it will never happen, I'd love for whatever scenes Rob is talking about to be in the DVD deleted scenes! Especially the (ahem) sexy time scenes! ;)
