MTV While promoting "Goon," a film he stars in and co-wrote, Jay Baruchel shared his experiences working for a short period of time on the Manhattan set of "Cosmopolis." Unfortunately for the Pattinson fans out there, according to Baruchel, Cronenberg's next movie might be too strange for them.
"An exceedingly strange movie," Baruchel said, describing "Cosmopolis." "All the Team Edward girls won't be seeing this one, I don't think."
For Baruchel, working with Cronenberg — who made a name for himself with horror films — was a dream come true. "Basically, it was that Cronenberg is a hero of mine. I'm a Canadian boy. I love horror. That's all I want to do," Baruchel said. "If you're a Canadian horror fan, Cronenberg's the Holy Grail."
The opportunity for Baruchel came about in a rather mundane way, but his reaction to it was anything but. "I was in Manhattan last year, keeping my lady company, and they called up and were like, 'Hey, do you want to do two days on this new Cronenberg?' I said, 'Yep!' 'Wait, wait. We'll send you the script.' I couldn't care less; what I'm playing is a means to an end. I just want to go and film-nerd-out about 'Videodrome' with him for two days."
The actual experience of working with Cronenberg did not disappoint. "Not only did I get to go and be a fly on the wall for two days and watch one of my heroes do his thing, I actually had the pleasure being directed by him," Baruchel said. "Coolest thing ever."

S, I Just want to tell you that I'm so so so happy right now because my sister just turn into team robsten :) she took my tablet without asking me and robstenation is my first bookmark and she opened it so when I found out she had like five tabs open with different posts I couldn't help but smile and she's keeping asking me questions this past hour about them and I showed her some of your epic posts. haha
So, I just wanna thank you for this, S :)
@ANon 7.07 That's just so cool. Great! We have a new recruit lol
"All the Team Edward girls (or at least the Robstenation-ladies) will be seeing this one, I think ."
off topic - but i just bought the dvd of breaking dawn 1 and do any of you guys know who the band were who were playing during the wedding scene (actually in the movie - there was a cellist, violin, guitar etc) was it iron and wine? there was a guy with a beard that looked like the singer? - its driving me nuts! help!
No offense, Jay, but I think that a Robdom of female fans will swoon in to see Cosmopolis and more than once. It's Rob we love. No one expects to see Edward Cullin in DC's movie.
... said respectfully)
He doesn't know us at all do he. We will be there in droves. Just tell us when and where. It's Rob for heavens sake. Oh my how they ALL underestimate us!
oh i am team edward and i want to see this movie! :P
Oh Jay must not have heard that Team Edward disbanded (I mean he got the girl-no need to choose sides anymore). Now there's just Team Rob and there's more than enough of us who will see his movies and help Rob become an All-Star!!
@HollanGirl,you're right all of us ladies and gents in here will be watching Cosmopolis and definitely more than once.
Team robert pattinson forever, im very excited for cosmopolis!
@Mel,sorry to hear about your aunt.
Jay couldn't be more wrong & doesn't know us @all...We'll be going out to see our man Rob in this in droves...& probably more than once...w/each role he does, we're confident it's something different each time...& he WILL deliver a rock 'em sock 'em punch in the gut w/Cosmopolis I'm certain...can't wait...the constant comparison to Edward has gotten so old & repetitive...as far as I'm concerned it's a moot point...time to move on peeps:)//||\\
i think this dude is seriously underestimating the power of rob pattinson.
yeah he doesn't know us very well at all. I think most of us will see it xD
@anon 7.35- I think they were just talented extras.I tried to look it up but I couldn't find anything about them.
-Y
I think there are a lot of actors and actresses that seem to resent him because he has such a huge fan base and it didn't take him very long to achieve it. Rob is major competition for them. He overshadows all of them and they hate that. Every studio wants him, and every director with an open mind wants to cast him. Instead of saying "All the Team Edward girls won't be seeing this one, I don't think", he should have said, Rob did a great job in Cosmopolis and fans of Robert should go and see this one." Instead, he has to go and say something stupid like that? I don't get it.
Agree with you ladies, it's Rob we love. As @Anon 8.11 said, we don't expect Edward to be in this movie. Come on. It's Rob we so love.
I remember Rob would say in the past that the fans were screaming for Edward, not for him. I'm glad he said that, and thought that, because it was a way to remain sane in the craziness that happened to him, but it's true only to a certain extent: the craziness was for Edward coming alive in a movie but then more and more fans realized the man who played Edward was even more amazing than Edward. And now when they/we scream, or show our love it's for Rob, not Edward. If I had been a fan at the very beginning of Twilight I would have been because of HIM, not just Edward. Hope it makes sense. Lol.
It's Saturday!
Edward fans moved over to Rob fans a looong time ago. It was probably at some point between watching the first 1 or 2 interviews with Rob :) Not many guys have figured out his appeal, sadly.
@Anon 1.06- You are so right. Rob and Kristen never say anything 'negative' about their co stars, it is like an unwritten rule, and Rob has said a lot of wacky things. Even when having to chose one over the other on some frivolous question they still do it diplomatically if at all :) They know the effect it can have.
i like JB, he`s actually a nice guy but in this case he`s just wrong...
and of course i agree with you, girls, about TEAM ROB)Edward is a wonderful character(my all time favourite) but Rob IS BETTER. he`s a wonderful person. so it`s all about him...it`s been proved like 197546743667 times, for example in that MTV brawl(it was a couple of months ago and cosmopolis was the winner). i followed that competition from the very beginning and it was super harsh. but Rob won over Edward and his movie beat different potential blockbusters. and the final has proved that the fans of Rob are much more devoted and supportive than the fans of the whole the Hanger games franchise...
sooo, will love and support him no matter what) can`t wait for COSMOPOLIS)
Yea Im a fan of Rob I will watch anything he's in, I can't wait to see this movie, hopefully it will be shown in Cannes with OTR :)
why don't people get it that rob is appealing to more than just tweens and teens. he even said himself that he hope some of his fans will see his other work - he knows he has a huge fanbase who are much older! i too would watch anything he is in there is something so endearing about him too, star quality
I'm beginning to think that there are as many us "Rob's Girls" over 30 as there are under 30. Not many of us from either age group will skip Cosmopolis. Rob may have caught our attention by playing Edward Cullen, but he's kept it with his smarts, charisma, & romantic charm, and his choice of roles.
Just love your blog. So glad you screen the comments before you post.
Love R/K individually and together.
Hope they show up together at the Oscars. What a treat that would be.
@Anon 1.12 It would be hell if I didn't screen them. lol
@11:57a.m. I agree wholeheartedly. Rob is loved for who he is as a person, not just for playing our beloved Edward.
